Region
The North Shore Region 09 has a total population of approximately 90,200 which includes approximately 1,195 English-speaking residents. It covers an area of 294,124.78 km2 and consists of the following MRC’s:
MRC Caniapiscau
The MRC of Caniapiscau contains five communities: the village of Fermont, the town of Schefferville, as well as two Montagnais communities - Matimekush and Lac-John, and one Naskapis community – Kawawachikamach.
Total population = approximately 4,000, English-speaking population = 100.
MRC Haute-Côte-Nord
The MRC Haute-Côte Nord consists of nine communities: the municipality of Colombier, the town of Forestville, the municipality of Les Bergeronnes, the municipality of Les Escoumins, the municipality of Longue-Rive, the municipality of Portneuf-sur-Mer, the municipality of Sacré-Coeur, the village of Tadoussac, and the Indian reserve of Essipt.
Total population = approximately 12, 300, English-speaking population = 45.
MRC Manicouagan
The MRC of Manicouagan consists of ten communities: the town of Baie-Comeau, the village of Baie-Trinité, the village of Chute-aux-Outardes, the municipality of Franquelin, the village of Godbout, the village of Pointe-aux-Outardes, the village of Pointe-Lebel, Ragueneau, Rivére-aux-Outardes and the Indian reserve – Betsiamites.
Total population = approximately 33,100, English-speaking population = 180.
MRC Minganie
The MRC Minganie consists of ten communities – the municipality of Aguanish, the municipality of Baie-Johan Beetz, the municipality of Havre-Saint-Pierre, the municipality of L’Île-d’Anticosti, the municipality of Longue-Pointe-de-Mingan, the community of Natashquan, the municipality of Rivière-au-Tonneurre, the municipality of Rivière-Saint-Jean, the Indian reserve Mingan and the Indian reserve Natashquan.
Total population = approximately 6,700, English-speaking population = 25.
MRC Sept-Rivières
The MRC of Sept-Rivières consists of five communities – the community of Lac-Walker, the town of Port-Cartier, the town of Sept-Îles, the Indian reserve of Maliotenam and the Indian reserve of Uashat.
Total population = approximately 34,100, English-speaking population = 845.
